About the role
The Assembly & Integration Focus Factory of L3Harris Space and Mission Systems in Rochester, New York, is seeking an experienced Tool Maker to join the Composite Structures team. The role requires a machining and fabrication background with the ability to work within tight tolerance specifications. You will work directly with engineers on the design, development, and fabrication of new and existing products to optimize design for manufacturability.
Responsibilities
- Read engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and detailed work instructions
- Maintain accurate records and manufacturing documentation
- Work with very fragile and precise assemblies
- Communicate clearly and present ideas effectively to individuals or groups
- Identify problems and suggest solutions
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, and proper labor charging practices
- Perform as an individual contributor as well as within a team environment
- Demonstrate appropriate computer knowledge
- Operate mills, surface grinders, and lathes proficiently
- Obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience; or
- 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 2 to 4 years of prior related experience
Skills
- Willingness to work overtime, shift work, weekends, holidays, and some travel
- Skilled Journeyman's Certification (preferred)
- Experience with G-Code and G-Code Macros for machine programming
- Experience with CNC programming utilizing Mastercam
- Experience with Prototrak programming and operation
- Experience working with composite materials
- Experience in a mechanical fabrication discipline
- Experience with MIG/TIG welding
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication
Pay
The salary range for this role in New York state is $55,000–$102,000. Final offer amount may vary based on factors including experience and geographic location.
Schedule
9/80 (every other Friday off).
