About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Tool & Die Maker to construct, alter, and repair tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges to very close tolerances. In this role, you will develop fabrication strategies, maintain specified tolerances, and ensure the quality and efficiency of stamped products.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of complex high-speed progressive dies.
- Build dies from conceptual drawings or layouts.
- Schedule and supervise lesser-skilled tool makers assigned to projects.
- Diagnose and correct problems in complicated tools and dies.
- Understand the uses and applications of various steels and carbide materials.
- Operate machinery with expertise to produce quality die components efficiently.
- Inspect parts to customer blueprints, with knowledge of S.P.C. and geometric tolerancing.
- Work to tolerances of .0001 of an inch or less when required.
- Collaborate with production personnel to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
- Participate in ISO/QS internal and external audits for the stamping department.
- Promote cleanliness and safety policies and procedures company-wide.
- Stay current on new stamping technologies through trade publications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Completion of a three or four-year apprentice program.
- Minimum of four years of related experience.
- Ability to use shop mathematics and geometric/trigonometric formulas.
- Experience working from operative sheets, drawings, and sketches.
- Proficiency with all types of precision measuring instruments.
- Thorough knowledge of machine shop practices, principles of mechanics, and material generalities.
This position is located in East Hanover, NJ.
Pay
$27.00 per hour - $36.00 per hour, plus a 15% shift differential.
Schedule
2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
