About the role

Amsted Automotive’s TransForm Automotive Shelby Twp division is seeking experienced Tool & Die Makers for the 2nd shift (3 pm–11 pm) with a +15% shift premium. Responsibilities include supporting production operations by keeping tools and dies optimized.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and optimize transfer and line dies in press and out as required
• Operate tool room equipment and machinery with precision
• Support press setup and efficiency as a team to achieve posted expectations
• Adhere to safety procedures and protocols
• Use root cause analysis and problem-solving skills to promote efficiency and quality
• Maintain product quality to print specifications where applicable
• Be available to work overtime as required to meet customer demand
• Serve as wastewater handler after completing proper environmental training
• Adapt and promote Lean Manufacturing principles using 5S and Kaizen processes
• Support company goals and objectives through continuous improvement action plan participation and completion

Requirements

• Proficiency in Blueprint GD&T interpretation of dies, details, and part prints
• Ability to effectively troubleshoot and solve daily operational deficiencies
• Proficiency using computers and productivity machinery such as control panels
• Ability to interpret CMM or gaging information and adjust tooling to maintain customer quality requirements
• Five years’ experience in metal stamping, prototype, tool and die build, or die repair technician roles
• Working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 compliance criteria
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet production standards
• High school diploma or GED
• Some college or technical trade manufacturing education preferred

Physical demands

• Extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, stooping, and performing repetitive motion tasks
• Excellent manual dexterity; ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds frequently
• Work performed in a manufacturing environment with continuous exposure to noise
• Availability to work necessary overtime if required
