About the role

Responsible for learning the tool and die trade, including the operation of lathes, CNC machines, milling machines, grinders, heat-treating furnaces, and more. Assists in the fabrication of tools and dies and works in production departments to replace or repair machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and interpret verbal instructions, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Use precision hand tools and measuring equipment.
  • Learn to set up and operate tool room machines, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, band saws, CNC machines, and grinders.
  • Handle and use machinist’s hand tools and precision measuring devices.
  • Operate heat-treating furnaces.
  • Fabricate new or replacement parts for dies or machines.
  • Support other tool makers as required.
  • Produce prototype parts as required.
  • Learn fabrication and troubleshooting of all production machines and stamping dies.
  • Complete paperwork such as job cards, inspection reports, and logs.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, organized work area.
  • Ensure quality and safety of own work and comply with all company procedures and policies.

Requirements

  • High school education with one year of machine shop experience.
  • Preferred: Associate’s degree in tool & die or mold making with six months of on-the-job experience in machine shop functions.

Pay

Hourly pay range for this role is $28.63–$34.54.
