About the role
The Designer at Ranger Die is responsible for designing stamping dies, prototype tooling, and die components that meet customer standards. They also provide technical support for customers, tool room, production, and sales/estimating.
Responsibilities
- Design high quality dies that meet the standards our customers expect.
- Prepare and facilitate die review meetings with both internal and external customers.
- Take notes as required during die review meetings.
- Check prototype assemblies for potential formability/assembly errors.
- Examine CAD models for proper color codes and machinability.
- Verify Detail Drawings for completeness, clarity, and dimensional accuracy.
- Communicate customer needs to the tool room effectively.
- Generate bill of materials with a keen focus on accuracy.
- Collaborate with the die makers and CNC Operators as required.
- Respond timely to inquiries and requests as needed.
- Communicate timely and accurate information to the Engineering Manager, including notification of problems that would prevent the normal completion of duties.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years' experience working in a 3-D CAD software; minimum 2 years' experience designing progressive stamping dies.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
- License(s)/Registration(s)/Certification(s): None required.
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Technical aptitude; spatial reasoning; technical drawing skills; problem-solving; sound judgment in decision making; detail-oriented; effective time management; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects; ability to work well independently and within a team; effective communication skills; excellent customer service skills; knowledge of progressive die design practices.
Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- We conduct pre-employment physicals with drug screens.
