Schedule
- Four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday
- Closed Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
- Overtime may be scheduled on Fridays and weekends as needed
About the role
To provide CNC Operators with tooling designated by the CAM Programmers, which will help streamline and maximize efficiency during the setup process. During down time, may run a CNC machine or set up when business needs allow.
Responsibilities
- Review blueprints, drawings, and specifications prior to starting tooling to ensure accuracy
- Create and assemble tooling for CNC machines using provided Setup/Tool Sheets
- Mount assembled tools into the tool pre-setter to capture precise dimensional data (X and Z axes, radii, and angles) without tying up CNC machines
- Utilize the heat shrink machine to create tools for specific jobs
- Record or digitally export calculated tool offset data via labels, barcodes, RFID chips, or direct CNC network integration
- Create and maintain tool carts for each job
- Restock and order new tools for worn/used tooling per approvals
- Maintain database tracking for the facility’s tooling inventory
- Organize and maintain cleanliness of the tool room
- Run CNC machines or set up during downtime as business needs allow
- Operate a forklift safely and use an overhead crane while maintaining all safety guidelines
- Inspect tools for wear, chipping, and structural damage; decipher between sharp and dull tooling before and after production runs
- Sharpen drills as needed
- Work independently with minimal guidance on operational and technical challenges
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience dealing with tooling for CNC machines (preferred)
- 3 years’ experience with CNC calculations, CAD, and CAM software (preferred)
- Front load forklift experience (preferred)
- Basic math skills
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand for long periods on a concrete floor
- Able to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment with exposure to forklift, machining, and potentially other loud noises
- Able to withstand heat during the use of the heat shrink machine
- Able to go up and down stairs
- Able to hear and/or see machine alarms; required abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Able to wear all necessary PPE such as steel-toed boots, safety glasses, etc.
