Tool and Gage Technician I (Weekend First Shift)
Position Summary
The Tool & Gage Technician I plans and machines new fixtures, gages and prototype parts in support of operations. In this role, the Tech I troubleshoots and repairs production fixture issues quickly to minimize production downtime and works on moderate to complex projects while pursuing the highest level of journeyman accreditation.
Job Duties
- Works on moderate complex fixtures, gages and prototypes. Plans and processes these projects with the technical assistance of the supervisor, lead person, and Tool & Gage Tech II.
- Plans, sets-up and operates tool room equipment to machine components to 2D drawings and/or 3D CAD models print specifications.
- Analyzes assignments and establishes efficient processes to fabricate, from start to finish, any gage or fixture using tool room equipment.
- Inspects, records and analyzes the quality of any part being produced, using various inspection equipment.
- Responds to emergency work order requests from manufacturing. Troubleshoots and ensures a speedy remedy to keep production going.
- Works closely with engineers in the development of new processes and prototypes.
- Develops Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) programs, sets-up and operates a variety of CNC machines with support of the following CAD systems: Auto CAD, PEPS, PT4 & CREO View, with emphasis on learning Master CAM.
- Works on pneumatic and hydraulic systems as they relate to fixtures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
A high school diploma or GED is required. An associate degree in machine tooling is preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Five years of experience in manufacturing, CNC, and fixture building is required.

- - Solid math skills and knowledge of sophisticated measuring and testing equipment.
- - Strong Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems as they relate to fixtures.

- Enterprise Applications Software (ERP)
- Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of Auto CAD, PEPS, PT4 & CREO view systems.
Working Conditions
Typical manufacturing plant environment with some travel between buildings and to other locations required. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance.
