Tool and Die Maker 3 - 2790 Builds and modifies tools, dies, jigs, molds, and fixtures using precision bench and machining operations. Leads, directs, and trains Tool and Die Maker 1’s on as needed basis. Job Duties Conduct tests for completed tools and/or dies to ensure that parts meet specificationsCut, shape and trim material to specificationsDesign jigs, fixtures and templates as neededTeach and train apprentices Grind and adjust different parts to properly fit them togetherHandle complex issues and problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher level staffSelect metals to be used based on propertiesTroubleshoot Dies in the press and on the benchSetup and assist in operating machinery in designated department when neededOffer improvement ideas for current toolingComplete all necessary documents fully and accurately Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, and proceduresPerform other duties as assigned Experience and Education Perform work under minimal supervision Possess comprehensive working knowledge of subject matterCompleted Tool and Die school through TCAT or equivalentAdvanced knowledge of progressive, forge, or draw diesAdvanced grinding, milling and lathe knowledge5-10 years of relevant tool and die experience EOE-Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran Various agencies of the United States Government require employers to maintain information on applicants pertaining to factors such as race, sex, and type of position for which an individual applies.
