Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate electronic and paper attendance is always kept.
  • Know the number of children in your care at all times.
  • Interact closely with children at their level.
  • Sit with children when they are eating.
  • Ensure proper positioning when outside so that children remain within sight and sound at all times.
  • Ensure State Incident Reports are used when appropriate and are properly completed, signed, and filed.
  • Be aware of every child’s physical and emotional needs and adapt your interactions to best support.
  • Always keep children within sight and sound supervision.
  • Avoid exceeding state ratio requirements.
  • Ensure that children are always within state ratio requirements.
  • Change children’s diapers and/or assist in toileting.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with school personnel, children, and parents.
  • Comply with work policies and procedures per school trainings, Employee Handbook, Goddard QA, State, and The Department of Health.
  • Understand and be able to apply Goddard Emergency Procedures.
  • Perform minor cleaning responsibilities (e.g., spills, dusting, sweeping) immediately or during nap time.
  • Perform major cleaning during times when children are not present.
  • Understand and adhere to Goddard’s Behavior Policy & The Children’s Bill of Rights.
  • Facility shall be able to demonstrate the skill and competence necessary to contribute to each child's development.

Required Qualifications

  • An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education OR two years of previous experience with children, and this does not have to be in a childcare center!
  • Have you volunteered with children before?
  • Are you a former or retired teacher?
  • All of these are examples of some of the many ways our staff have experience with children.
  • Willingness to go through (and pass!) the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: four clearances, mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to bend at the waist and knees frequently and as needed while caring for children.
  • Able to sit on and get up from a child sized chair frequently throughout the day.
  • Able to sit on and get up from the classroom floor frequently throughout the day.
  • Able to stand and walk for 7-8 hours per day.

Pay and Schedule

  • Pay rate ranges from $16.00 per hour - $19.00 per hour, based on education and experience
