Title: Scheduler V, Lead Scheduler
About the Role
As Lead Scheduler, you own the schedule for an entire community college bond program and lead the schedulers working on individual campuses. You build and maintain the master schedule and its baselines, incorporating logic, milestones, calendars, and resource and cost loading. You review contractor submissions against contracts and approved baselines, analyze delays to determine their impact on completion dates, and identify responsible parties. Your role involves leading schedule discussions in weekly progress meetings, reviews, and sessions with program leadership, highlighting critical paths, risks, and necessary actions. You also supervise other schedulers, onboard new team members, and establish scheduling standards, templates, and coding to ensure consistency across the program.
Responsibilities
- Own the program schedule: baseline, master, and detailed, including logic, constraints, milestones, calendars, and cost/resource loading
- Review every contractor schedule submittal against the contract, specifications, and approved baseline
- Perform quality control on schedules, assessing critical paths, activity relationships, float, coding, and data integrity
- Conduct time impact analysis and delay investigations, proving the effect of delays on milestones and completion dates
- Identify, track, and communicate schedule risks, and assist in developing recovery plans
- Prepare and present reports on baseline variance, critical path changes, milestone performance, forecast completion, delays, and recovery actions
- Lead and supervise schedulers on college project teams, including onboarding, day-to-day oversight, and coverage during absences
- Develop and maintain the program’s scheduling standards, templates, coding structures, and tools to ensure consistency across projects
- Serve as the primary point of contact for schedule-related questions from contractors, designers, project leadership, and program leadership
Requirements
- 15 years of recent capital construction scheduling experience (19 years qualifies if no degree is held)
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera, MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with cost and resource-loaded schedules, not just activity lists
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management or equivalent methods for measuring progress against plans
- Expertise in time impact analysis and schedule forensics, including reconstructing and defending job progress
- Working knowledge of cost engineering alongside scheduling
- Experience leading other schedulers, not just managing your own work
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, business administration, or construction management (or four additional years of experience in lieu of a degree)
Preferred Qualifications
- AACE Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) certification
- PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience with community college or K-12 campus programs
- Owner or program-side scheduling experience, not limited to contractor-side work
Benefits
- Health, dental, and vision insurance at low cost
- 401k retirement plan
- Three weeks of paid time off (PTO)
- Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) at no cost, with a 3% Safe Harbor contribution vested on day one
Pay
Salary range: $175,000 to $192,000 per year, based on experience.
