Responsibilities

  • Implement and evaluate comprehensive UU education programs for children and youth that are aligned with UU principles and values.
  • Design “Sunday Adventures” program in collaboration with the RE committee and the minister.
  • Train and supervise paid junior staff who help facilitate “Sunday Adventures”.
  • Manage the RE program's budget and ensure compliance with policies and procedures, including “Safe Congregations Guidelines”.
  • Effectively communicate with families, the congregation, and volunteers regarding RE programs and events.
  • Foster positive relationships and ensure the RE program supports a thriving multi-generational community.
  • Participate in worship planning and activities that involve children and youth, such as the Christmas pageant.
  • Stay informed about best practices in religious education, UU curricula, and educational theory.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience and education: a bachelor's degree, particularly in education or a related field, preferred. Experience in managing mixed age groups.
  • UU knowledge: familiarity with Unitarian Universalism, including its theology, values, programs, and principles. Experience and commitment to UU principles, including anti-racism and multicultural education.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate well with people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Organizational and Administrative Skills: effective organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and attention to detail to manage programs and resources effectively.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: the role requires leadership skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with ministers, staff, committees, and the congregation.
  • Computer and Technology Skills: proficiency with basic computer applications such as word processing, e-mail and spreadsheets along with familiarity with social media and online resources.

Pay

$15,000 per year. 10-12 hours per week, including most Sundays during the school year.
