Title IX & Civil Rights Investigator (part time)

The University will promptly address reports of discrimination under the Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy (NDAH Policy) or the Sexual Harassment and Sexual Misconduct Policy (SHSM Policy). Purpose

The Title IX & Civil Rights Investigator is responsible for conducting prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation involving students, faculty, and staff. This role ensures university compliance with Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, the Clery Act, VAWA, and other federal and state civil rights laws. The position also contributes to campus training and proactive student engagement initiatives to foster a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive, trauma-informed, and impartial investigations into reports of sexual misconduct, domestic/dating violence, stalking, and discrimination or harassment based on protected classes.
• Develop investigative plans, identify and interview parties and witnesses, and gather and preserve relevant evidence.
• Draft detailed, objective investigative reports summarizing evidence, timelines, and statements for review by decision-makers.
• Maintain accurate, meticulous, and confidential case files within the department's record-keeping system.
• Provide regular updates to the Title IX Coordinator regarding case status and timelines.
• Collaborate with the Title IX Coordinator to design, update, and deliver prevention, compliance, and awareness training for students, faculty, and staff.
• Facilitate specialized training sessions for student leaders, residential life staff, and athletics.
• Stay current on evolving federal and state regulations, case law, and best practices related to civil rights and Title IX compliance.
• Actively engage with the student body to build trust, raise awareness of civil rights and Title IX protections, and reduce barriers to reporting.
• Participate in campus-wide wellness, equity, and safety initiatives.
• Serve as a visible resource for students, answering questions about university policy, reporting options, and supportive measures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Human Resources, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience conducting investigations, preferably in civil rights, Title IX, or human resources within a higher education setting.
• Exceptional analytical, writing, and interviewing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into cohesive reports.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain neutral, empathetic, and professional in sensitive situations.
• Commitment to upholding human dignity and respecting diverse perspectives in alignment with the University’s Catholic and Jesuit mission.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree (J.D., Master’s, or Ph.D.) in a relevant field.
• Certified Title IX Investigator training (e.g., ATIXA, TNG, or equivalent certification).

Skills

• Trauma-informed investigation techniques.
• Knowledge of federal and state civil rights laws, including Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, the Clery Act, and VAWA.
• Experience designing and delivering training programs.
• Ability to engage with diverse campus populations and foster trust.

Schedule

This is a part-time position requiring 18 hours per week. Due to the nature of the role, days and hours will need to be flexible.
