Title Insurance Commercial Underwriter

About the role

Investors Title is seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter to join their Commercial Services team. This role involves coordinating, underwriting, and servicing complex commercial real estate transactions, with the goal of expanding commercial business opportunities across multiple markets.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and service commercial title insurance transactions throughout North Carolina and across the company’s footprint.
• Cook up title orders with attorneys, search providers, and settlement professionals.
• Review, underwrite, and issue commercial title insurance commitments, policies, and endorsements.
• Maintain accurate commercial account files and client records.
• Generate reports tracking business activity, file status, and production metrics.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with attorneys, lenders, developers, builders, and other commercial clients.
• Aid in the development and maintenance of client profiles, builder/developer databases, and prospect tracking systems.
• Serve as a liaison between customers, attorneys, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless communication throughout the transaction process.
• Collaborate with departments including Reinsurance, Escrow, National Accounts, and Technology to support commercial transactions.
• Manage transaction documentation and monitor pending commitments and policies.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of commercial title underwriting experience.
• Strong knowledge of commercial real estate transactions and title insurance practices.
• Ability to independently manage complex commercial files and underwriting decisions.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficiency with technology and underwriting systems.
• Professional demeanor with a commitment to delivering outstanding client service.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain multi-state underwriting licenses as needed.
