9-month position, 7 hours per day. Program: Autism. Primary work location: Fredric Watson Elementary School, North Las Vegas.

About the Role

Provide direct instructional and behavioral support to students with autism under the supervision of a licensed special education teacher.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
• Assist students with academic, social, and daily living skills.
• Support classroom management and maintain a safe, structured learning environment.
• Collect and record data on student progress as directed.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to reinforce learning and behavioral strategies.
• Assist with personal care needs as required (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility).
• Perform clerical duties related to classroom operations (e.g., preparing materials, organizing supplies).

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Nevada Department of Education Paraprofessional Certificate of Competency (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
• One year of experience working with children, preferably in an educational or childcare setting.
• Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and evidence-based strategies for supporting students with autism.
• Ability to lift and physically support students as needed (up to 50 lbs).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in education, special education, psychology, or related field.
• Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency.
