Location: Las Vegas – Garside, Frank JHS (Region Two)

Schedule: Full-time, 9-month position (0431-2026-2027 school year), standard shift, entry level.

About the role

Specialized Learning Disabled (SLD) Para-Professional supporting middle-school students in a Title I setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist certified staff in delivering individualized instruction to students with identified learning disabilities.
• Implement behavior-intervention plans and collect data on student progress.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support in academic, social, and life-skills domains.
• Maintain a safe, structured classroom environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to reinforce IEP goals.
• Perform clerical duties (preparing materials, recording grades, managing student files).
• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and field trips.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Nevada Department of Education Para-Professional Certificate (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
• Minimum 48 college credits OR passing score on the Para-Pro Praxis exam.
• Experience working with middle-school students, preferably in special education.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs, stand for extended periods, and physically intervene (when trained) to ensure student safety.
• Complete three-year work history on application, including periods of unemployment, schooling, and volunteer work.
