About the role
The Title I Reading Paraprofessional at Westside Elementary assists the teacher in providing education and instruction to students.
Essential Duties
- Performs clerical duties such as attendance reports, typing, filing, and handling routine interruptions such as notes, messages and deliveries
- Performs supervisory duties, such as lunchroom, playground, halls and classroom
- Typing, drawing, writing and duplicating instructional materials
- Prepares bulletin boards, graphs and charts
- Assembles materials as directed
- Checks papers, workbooks, homework and tests as directed
- Helps in the care and cleanliness of the room
- Reads to students, listens to students read
- Helps students with make-up work
- Aids in individual or group activities: games, flash cards, etc.
- PRACTICES SKILL DRILLS TO REINFORCE CONCEPTS AND LEARNING TARGETS
- ALERTS TEACHER TO NEEDS OF STUDENTS
- AIDES IN CHECKING PROGRESS OF INDIVIDUALIZED STUDY PROJECTS
- AIDES WITH INVENTORY OF SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT
- AIDES WITH FIELD TRIPS
- MAKES EDUCATIONAL GAMES AND AIDS
- AIDES WHEN EMERGENCIES ARISE
- PERFORMS ANY OTHER DELEGATED NON-INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY ASSIGNED BY TEACHER OR ADMINISTRATOR
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- SUPPORTS AN ORDERLY AND PRODUCTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
- FOLLOWS AND SUPPORTS DISTRICT PROTOCOLS AND PROCEDURES
Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Some college preferred
- Successful completion of district background check
- Effective communicator (both orally and in writing)
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good time management / organizational skills
