9-month position, 6 hours per day. Primary program: Resource. Work location: Shirley A. Barber Elementary School, Las Vegas.

About the Role

This position provides instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities in a resource program setting under the direction of a licensed special education teacher.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction as directed by the teacher.
• Support students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
• Assist with classroom management and behavior intervention strategies.
• Help prepare instructional materials and adapt curriculum as needed.
• Monitor and document student progress under teacher supervision.
• Assist with personal care tasks (e.g., toileting, feeding) as required.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other school staff to support student success.
• Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other non-instructional times.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 48 college credits OR passing score on the ParaPro Assessment (or equivalent).
• Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
• Ability to lift and move students with physical disabilities (up to 50 lbs).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting diverse learning needs.
