Title Engineer, AME 2

Responsibilities

• Create, document, develop, and implement procedures required to assemble, test, process, and manufacture company products.
• Provide engineering support in the production department to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
• Develop written manufacturing planning, Assembly and Testing plans (ATP’s) in accordance with appropriate drawings and specifications.
• Work closely with production operators, supervisors, and other functional teams to continually improve product flow and quality; provide training to ensure technicians understand testing requirements.
• Initiate, evaluate, and implement process improvements.
• Understand manufacturing capacity and capabilities planning.
• Evaluate and develop manufacturing processes by:
  • Designing and conducting research programs.
  • Demonstrating and training proper build processes and techniques to support assembly and testing personnel.
  • Setting up and running hydraulic testing procedures to validate usability of instructions.
  • Applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Soliciting observations from operators.
• Design and develop tools (physical and analytical) to assist and improve production processes.
• Review engineering pre-release top assembly and sub-assembly drawings, parts lists, and ATPs for compatibility, correctness, and completeness prior to formal release.
• Troubleshoot failures on top assemblies and determine causes; write work instructions for partial disassembly, issue correction, and reassembly.
• Write rework instructions for components causing top assembly or sub-assembly failures; track occurrences for repeat offenders.
• Provide estimating bids for top-level builds, sub-assemblies, and required tooling (NPI).
• Understand and develop BOM structure for MRP system; determine when to use special part number structures (e.g., partial builds like “U” for unfinished part numbers) to support best manufacturing practices.
• Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety policies, contributing to risk mitigation, and keeping work areas clean.
• Contribute to team effort by maintaining a positive attitude.
• Continuously strive to improve manufacturing process efficiency and effectiveness.
• Support the assembly department through roles in FOD, 5S, TPM, PM, and process improvement programs.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field; OR
• Associate’s degree in an engineering field with 3+ years of on-the-job experience; OR
• 5+ years of manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering in a similar or related industrial environment.
• Basic understanding of the following:
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Precision measuring devices.
  • Part drawings/blueprints, dimensioning, and tolerancing.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Computer skills including Excel, CAD/CAM, Quality Management Software, Enterprise Resource Planning, and related business software.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer specifications.
  • Hydraulic systems knowledge.
  • Understanding of Bill of Materials and parts lists.
• Must meet ITAR regulations regarding citizenship requirements.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Physical requirements include routine machine shop work: standing or walking for 8 hours/day, voice, vision, hearing, and dexterity.

Pay

$75,000 - $110,000 plus bonus.
