Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph Systems, Electronics and Controls is a leading independent aerospace system supplier for the commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets, employing approximately 500 employees. The company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, main fuel pumps, and environmental control systems for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electronics Product Support Engineer (PSE) to join our West Hartford, CT team. The PSE provides operations engineering support to various areas of the business from new product design/development to manufacturing, supply chain, and assembly/test. This position serves as a technical expert for assigned product lines and directs relevant engineering activities. It involves considerable 1-on-1 and team interaction, requiring the ability to interface with customers, suppliers, and associates at all levels of the organization. Salary Range: $91,100.00 - $136,700.00 per year.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate specific aircraft program technical support activities, including resolution of technical problems with in-service electronics products.
• Represent Triumph technically at airline, aircraft OEM, and MRO customers.
• Foster good working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
• Review and disposition non-conforming material.
• Initiate Product Condition Reports (PCR) when trends are identified.
• Monitor product reliability and produce MTBF trend charts.
• Initiate engineering changes to improve reliability, performance, and sustainment as required.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose anomalous units and conduct root cause investigations.
• Coordinate the resolution of in-service product technical problems and execute reliability improvements through concept development, design, and validation.
• Coordinate cost estimates and respond to requests for quotation (design and/or requirements changes, product repair and upgrade, obsolescence, etc.).
• Prepare and present technical materials internally and to customers.
• Understand project scheduling and budgeting processes, including project performance indices (EV, SPI, CPI, etc.).
• Prepare component specifications, test plans, and test reports.
• Lead and provide oversight of various test activities (design assurance, validation, qualification, etc.).
• Identify, report, and drive resolution to issues affecting product integrity, including safety.
• Coordinate development of Component Maintenance Manuals, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and Product Deviations Authorizations.
• Maintain field reliability data for assigned products.
• Prepare and conduct product maintenance and overhaul training.
• Provide technical support to suppliers, manufacturing, assembly/test, and MRO service centers.
• Actively participate in new program design/development activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement, productivity, and lean manufacturing events.
• Train, mentor, and develop less experienced engineers and colleagues.

Requirements

• A minimum of a BSME or equivalent technical/aerospace degree is required.
• At least 5 years of electronics and/or relevant experience in a related field.
• Experience in design, development, manufacturing, and assembly is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret design drawings, PCBA files, and electronic schematics with a strong understanding of circuits and tolerancing.
• Hands-on troubleshooting and fault isolation skills (scientific method), particularly to component level (both digital and analog circuits).
• Experience with aerospace engine control systems preferred.
• Experience diagnosing root causes of failures is a plus.
• Experience dispositioning flight-critical safety components.
• Self-motivated, dynamic, and able to work independently with minimal guidance or as part of a team.
• Project management experience is a plus.
• Ability to multi-task, execute cross-functional activities, and drive project milestones to completion on time.
• Excellent communication skills with a strong background in technical writing.
• Experience with JTAG (Joint Test Action Group), CAN (Controller Area Network) protocol, and LabVIEW is a plus.
• Strong MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook) skills are required.
• Ability and willingness to occasionally travel.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
