Responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
• Fit and assemble machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques.
• Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Work with a variety of hand tools, measuring devices, power tools, milling machines, lathes, band saws, bench grinders, and materials.
• Basic knowledge of G-code and Conversational Programming.
• Service and maintain machines, including performing operations, set-ups, adjustments, cleaning, and prove-outs on CNC or Lathe machines.
• Read blueprints and/or job orders for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions (e.g., fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut) and follow the sequence of operations per routings.
• Complete tasks including dimensional and visual inspections per print specifications, paperwork, and scanning into the system to report labor on jobs.
• Repair and replace defective parts, set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Assemble components and controls, both simple and complex.
• Machine materials other than metal, such as composites, plastic, and rubber as required.
• Clean machine, tooling, and parts, and perform machine maintenance along with 6S principles.
• Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions; coordinate with manufacturing engineer.
• Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures and certify/test product.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years of related machining experience.
• Post high school coursework or professional certification preferred.
• Perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
• Mechanical/technical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently and with flexibility regarding changes in work requirements.
• Attention to detail and ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• GD&T knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic computer skills, such as opening and saving files, and basic data entry.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

• Work may require bending and carrying up to 40 lbs.
• Sitting or standing for a minimum of eight hours per day.
