Join our Automotive Accounting team and play a key role in keeping our financial operations running smoothly. Support accounting functions of a dynamic automotive group, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail in every task.
About the role
As a Title Clerk, you’ll process car deals and handle the legal transfer of documents for the Department of Motor Vehicles. Automotive Title processing experience of 1 or more years is required.
Responsibilities
- Process all new and used vehicles for registration in the state in which they will be titled.
- Prepare tax and title documents.
- Submit all legal transfer work to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Verify that funds have been collected and the correct lienholder paid off before processing title applications.
- Check for accuracy in the application and ensure that all information is complete.
- Prepare payoff checks for new vehicles and trade-ins.
- Maintain a system to verify out-of-state titles.
- Compile and maintain a complete list of all outstanding title work.
- Report to management on the status of any missing or problem titles and provide a current list of outstanding titles to the comptroller at the end of month.
- Stay abreast of title regulations by attending seminars held by local licensing bureaus and any available training on title regulations.
- Cross-train others to handle the title clerk daily responsibilities.
- Conduct periodic training sessions for F&I managers and sales personnel regarding title regulations and procedures.
- Issue a written memo to managers and all sales personnel whenever regulations change.
- Maintain a professional appearance and a neat work area.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- One or more years of automotive title processing experience.
- Previous experience in dealership operations, automotive repair shops, or retail sales is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and public speaking abilities.
- Knowledge of automotive titles, registration processes, and dealership experience is preferred.
Pay
$20.00-$24.00 per hour DOE plus bonuses with potential up to $30.00 per hour.
