Title Agent

Brief Description

TGS Title Agents utilize online sources to determine ownership and find legal descriptions, encumbrances, maps, and taxes for the subject tracts under our Clients' project requests. Demonstrating surface and mineral title experience is an advantage for this role.

Specific Position Functions

• Analyzes and abstracts instruments filed of record for the subject lands by adhering to the scope of the title request.
• Researches county official records (County Clerk's records, Tax Appraisal District, Probate Court, Civil Court, and District Court) through online resources and travel to applicable county courthouses.
• Investigates using unofficial resources (Ancestry.com, FinAGrave.com, Obituaries, etc.) to track down heirship.
• Compiles the abstracted information and all calculated interests into standard TGS Title Department reports for other TGS departments and the Client.
• Deeds plots metes and bounds tracts to ensure the correct parcel is abstracted.
• Acts as a source of knowledge for title procedures, laws, and industry standards.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5+ years' experience in the title profession in the oil and gas industry, among other sectors, to competently research ownership, calculate interests, interpret instruments, analyze maps, and complete final title reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams applications.
• Ability to deed plot metes and bounds tracts by using deed plotting software.
• Proficient with Adobe Acrobat, knowledge of SharePoint, and ability to learn new software and online resources.
• Exposure and understanding of the County Clerk's records within the physical courthouse.
• Experience with mineral research is a plus.

Responsibilities

• A TGS Title Agent must be able to swiftly and accurately fulfill the scope of the title requested and submit final deliverables within the expected timeframe given for the project.
• Strong communication skills, focus, attention to detail, and experience are needed to be successful.

Work Environment

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and uses office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Physical Demands Primarily in an office environment. Position requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and conduct other office duties, including the ability to see, hear, stand, walk, sit, and carry light items. Driving is required for business-necessary travel.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday.
