About the Role
Central York School District (CYSD) has an opportunity for a Title I Instructional Assistant at Hayshire Elementary School. The Title I Instructional Assistant will work closely with teachers to provide targeted instructional support in small groups or one-on-one settings, focusing on reading and math interventions for students who qualify for Title I services.

Location and Schedule
Hayshire Elementary School, 2801 Hayshire Drive, York, PA 17406. 6.5 hours per day, 186 days per year.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Note: Duties and responsibilities for this position will vary depending on the grade to which the position is assigned, and if the position supports an entire classroom, a small group of students, or provides one-on-one assistance to a student.
- Provide assistance to Title I students in developing reading and math strategies, as assigned.
- Assist teachers and certified reading specialist in monitoring student progress.
- Assist the teacher with maintenance of an environment and climate conducive to learning.
- Develop materials in accordance with the directions of the reading specialist.
- Maintain inventory of Title I materials, including the duplication of appropriate resources.
- Help maintain Title I records.
- Assist the Reading Specialist/Classroom Teacher in providing individual drill and practice as needed.
- Help maintain a positive classroom climate, which fosters understanding, respect, and self-esteem.
- Be alert for problem areas and communicate potential problems to the teacher.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the building principal.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Highly Qualified Status by one of the following means is required:
- Possess an associate's degree or higher
- Have completed two years of post-secondary study (48 college credits)
- Demonstrate satisfactory performance on the CAPE test
- Demonstrate satisfactory performance on the local assessment
- Must demonstrate the ability to be organized and have good communication skills
- Must have (or willing to obtain) current PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Criminal History Background Checks
Pay
$14.40-$19.15 per hour. Step placement shall be based on years of service recognized by employer.
