About the role
Communicate with hospitals, organ and tissue procurement organizations, coroners, hospice groups, and funeral homes on all deaths in Nebraska.
Screen all deaths for the possibility of eye/cornea donation.
Responsibilities
- Contact family for medical social history and consent for donation if the death qualifies for eye donation.
- Screen medical history with nursing staff and through medical records (EMR).
- Perform sterile recoveries and processing procedures on a regular basis.
Requirements
A high degree of tact, timing, and attention to detail is required.
Qualifications
Experience in healthcare or related field preferred.
Skills
Excellent communication skills, ability to handle sensitive situations, and proficiency in medical record systems.
