Time & Billing Specialist

About the role
The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the billing process for assigned attorneys and clients, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of invoices in accordance with client guidelines and firm policies. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, clients, and internal departments.
Responsibilities
- Compiles and bills attorney hours to clients every month
- Reviews and edits pre-bills in response to attorney and assistant requests
- Applies retainer funds as directed by attorney
- Processes write-offs following Firm policy
- Reviews and verifies accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as required
- Researches and responds to inquiries regarding billing issues and problems
- Assists with client collections on Accounts Receivable
- Handles electronic submission and tracking of invoices
- Reviews and categorizes non-billable time monthly
- Assists with performing conflict checks and lateral conflict searches
- Performs other duties as needed
Requirements
- Associate's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred
- 3 years of billing experience, preferably at a law firm
- Effective and efficient communication, data management, and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and number/math skills
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Schedule
This is a full-time, onsite position Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or as determined by department needs.
