TIG Welder - 2nd Shift (Onsite)

About the role

This position involves TIG welding and some avionics repair activities in an FAA-regulated environment. It is a 2nd shift position with hours from 3:00-11:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Select torch, torch tips, filler rods, and fluxes as per blueprints and operation sheets.
  • Connect valves and welding torches to gas cylinders and set prescribed amperage, gas flow, speeds, and feeds.
  • Hold torches at proper angles to joints and apply filler rods to form welds.
  • Interpret schematics and drawings to perform welding and repair tasks.
  • Weld, braze, and cut various metals like nitronics, aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and SAE 4130 steels.
  • Examine welds for adherence to specifications and document repairs.
  • Grind off excess slag or spatter and clean parts using solvents.
  • Repair welds based on rejection sheets and x-ray sheets.
  • Work from drawings, sketches, schedules, and verbal instructions to select and set up welding equipment.
  • Check work methods and results for conformance to standards and re-instruct as necessary.
  • Utilize microelectronic, electronic, optical, electro-optical, mechanical, or electromechanical equipment, including computers and lasers.
  • Troubleshoot and test repair units using electronic test and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Apply technical expertise in evaluating, developing, maintaining, and using complex products, devices, tests, or procedures.
  • Communicate with technicians, engineers, and leadership regarding product specifications and requirements.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a High School Diploma with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Must have previous welding experience in a manufacturing or service environment.
  • 2+ years’ experience with aviation manufacturing or repair is preferred.
  • Holds or has ability to obtain Preliminary MRB authorization.
  • Experience reviewing CMM/SB documentation and creating mark-ups is preferred.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $46,938 - $88,035. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
