TIG 1G Welder - 2nd Shift

Position Summary

Performs a wide range of routine to complex manual, automatic and/or semi-automatic welds utilizing a variety of equipment on high temperature and high strength metal alloys.

Responsibilities

Following established procedures, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

  • Perform manual/automatic welding, tacking, weld repairing at 1G (flat) on plates or pipes, ensuring proper penetration and fusion; heat straightening at flat or horizontal position.
  • Read technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to understand specifications.
  • Select, set up, and maintain welding equipment (e.g., manual TIG, JetLine, AMI, Robot, EBW, Laser Welding)
  • Clean, cut, bend, and clamp or tack-weld components into position.
  • Monitor weld quality during and after welding to ensure compliance with code requirements, using visual inspection to check for defects. Help troubleshooting if needed.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Repair existing equipment and perform minor repairs on welding machinery.
  • May perform other related responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge in TIG welding by successfully passing AWS D17.1 1G weld test:
    • 0.063” SS321, butt joint at 1G position
    • 0.063” Hast-X, butt joint at 1G position
  • Welds must pass visual inspection, FPI, and X-Ray testing
  • Must pass weld defects visual inspection test
  • Experience with semi-automatic/orbital welders preferred
  • Must demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills and be willing to work effectively as a participative team member in a dynamic team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to read, write and understand instructions, procedures, drawings and blueprints.
  • Must possess a high level of manual dexterity, sound and reliable judgment and a willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately perform moderately complex mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to learn/perform basic computer operations.
  • May be required to lift up to 35 lbs.
