About the role
AT&T Global Public Sector is seeking a Tier II Network Technician to support the installation and maintenance of client LAN/WAN devices. This position involves responding to and resolving incidents, demonstrating troubleshooting skills, and communicating with the team. Responsibilities also include drafting and implementing standard network change requests, supporting Tier III network engineers, performing configuration management functions, coordinating network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades, and configuring and troubleshooting layer 2 switching.
Responsibilities
- Support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices.
- Respond to and resolve incidents, demonstrate troubleshooting skills, and communicate with the team.
- Draft and implement standard network change requests.
- Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, TEMS, coordinate and install new equipment).
- Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and conduct inventory.
- Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
- (Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper RMA process).
- Layer 1 network experience (CAT5/6, SM/MM Fiber, Serial cables, SFP).
- Layer 2 network experience (ability to configure/troubleshoot switches/routers, MAC addresses, VLANs, port security, applying thin and thick configs).
- Layer 3 network experience (subnetting, familiar with protocols such as OSPF, BGP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE).
- Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLAN’s, Port Security, Thin Configs).
- Perform IOS upgrades for Cisco, Juniper, Brocade and Foundry OS.
- Experience with Visio.
- Familiar with ServiceNow and Confluence.
Requirements
- 10 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education.
- Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
- Available to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Available to work flexible hours, to include weekend support.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Skills
- Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper RMA process.
