About the role
The State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) is recruiting a Health Technology Department Head to join our team located in Hamden, CT.
Responsibilities
- Teach all aspects of the Health Technology curriculum, including both theoretical and hands-on training.
- Plan and deliver information, and assess student competency using various methods, including educational technology.
- Possess basic computer skills to access online curriculum/resources and present lessons to students.
- Have the technical skill and physical ability to complete various healthcare tasks, including bending, squatting, kneeling, and lifting heavier items.
- Obtain and retain a Connecticut CDL with proper endorsements to transport students.
- Participate in building and district level professional development and collaboration, working with various committees and departments to facilitate student education.
Requirements
- An active State of Connecticut Teaching Certificate in one of the following areas: 109 Health Occupations endorsement and the 826 Vocational Department Head Trade Technology endorsement.
- Qualify for a Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP).
- Within the first year of employment, obtain BLS instructor certification through the American Heart Association, American Red Cross CPR instructor certification, and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with proper endorsements.
Qualifications
- One (1) year of work experience in a long-term care or rehabilitation facility.
- Experience teaching, preparing lesson plans, differentiated learning, and assessing student.
- College Career Pathway (CCP) or UCONN Early College Experience (ECE) instructors.
- Completed the following courses at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU): VTE 113, VTE 116, and Special Education.

Pay
Versatile pay structure based on the State Vocational Federation of Teachers scale.
Schedule
First shift, full time (35 hours per week) Monday through Friday.
