Clinical Role & Responsibilities

  • Participate in patient care rounds, resident conference sessions, minor or major operative procedures, consultations, and in-office procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Surgery and the Medical Director of the Christiana Care Cancer Program to deliver high-quality clinical service.
  • Assist in the administrative duties of the Department of Surgery and the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and Research Institute as assigned.
  • Facilitate surgical resident educational programs as faculty.
  • Share on-call service with other thoracic surgeons as part of the multidisciplinary thoracic team.
  • Attend weekly surgical grand rounds and morbidity and mortality conferences.
  • Participate in the monthly multidisciplinary thoracic tumor conference and weekly thoracic multidisciplinary clinic.
  • Support the preparation of thoracic conferences, including morbidity and mortality conferences.
  • Meet performance expectations of Multidisciplinary Disease Centers at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and Research Institute.
  • Engage in academic and scholarly activities aimed at publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Participate in local and national thoracic organizations and societies.

About Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute

The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute (HFGCCRI) is a state-of-the-art facility located on the Christiana Hospital campus. It offers advanced medical, surgical, and radiation procedures, diagnostic services, and over 100 clinical trials. The cancer research program includes the Gene Editing Institute, the Cawley Center for Translational Research, and collaborations with the University of Delaware and the Wistar Cancer Institute. HFGCCRI also houses the ChristianaCare Breast Center, which performs over 34, 000 mammograms annually.

HFGCCRI is a Multidisciplinary Disease Site Center (MDC) that brings together specialists for comprehensive patient care. It is part of the National Cancer Institute-funded Community Oncology Research Program and offers advanced cancer-fighting technologies, including the Cyberknife and image-guided radiation therapy. The center also provides specialized services like gynecologic oncology, bone marrow transplant, and CAR T cell therapy.
