About the role

The Third Grade Teacher position at Springmill STEM Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year aims to provide leadership for learning at the classroom level. Reporting to the Building Principal/Designee, the ideal candidate will possess essential skills including communications, independence, ethics, teamwork, critical thinking, digital literacy, and knowledge management.

  • The Ability to Learn Independently: Taking responsibility for acquiring and applying knowledge, especially in a rapidly changing field like STEM.
  • Ethics and Responsibility: Building trust and collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Teamwork and Flexibility: Collaborating with colleagues, students, and partners to solve problems and implement solutions.
  • Thinking Skills: Identifying needs, finding appropriate solutions, and engaging in creative problem-solving.
  • Digital Skills: Using technology to enhance learning experiences and integrate digital tools into the curriculum.
  • Knowledge Management: Managing and applying information effectively within a specific subject area.

STEM Qualifications and Responsibilities

  • Prior STEM classroom teaching experience preferred.
  • Commitment to STEM instruction and professional development.
  • Experience teaching K-6 age group with a focus on STEM and Nature Education.
  • Strong STEM and Literacy education background.
  • Ability to weave STEM and nature education throughout the school year.
  • Development of STEM curriculum materials and instructional strategies.

Qualifications

  • Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate/License in the appropriate subject area or grade level(s).
  • Flexibility, problem-solving attitude, and belief in all students' ability to learn.
  • Excellent attendance and recognition of its importance in teaching and learning.

Essential Functions

  • Maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to students.
  • Assessing student learning and providing progress reports.
  • Identifying and addressing student learning difficulties.
  • Supporting the administration in implementing policies and rules.
  • Collaborating with other staff members and external specialists.
  • Assisting in maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Communicating with students, parents, and the community.
  • Adapting to changes and managing multiple responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to drive and travel within the building.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment or supplies weighing up to thirty pounds.
  • Ability to manage balancing, bending, climbing, crouching, kneeling, reaching, or standing.
  • Effective communication skills, including language and writing.
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group discussions.
  • Able to react productively to interruptions and changing conditions.
  • Able to accurately discern detail in various materials.
  • Able to analyze data and present alternative actions and solutions.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and complete duties efficiently.
  • Able to maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions.
