Program Overview

The Caterpillar ThinkBIG Scholarship Program is a paid, two-year education and hands-on training pathway at Thompson Tractor's Mobile branch. Upon completion, participants transition into a full-time technician career.

Eligibility Requirements

• Age 18+
• High school diploma or equivalent required at the start of the program
• Valid driver’s license & good driving record
• Pass drug screen, physical, and background check
• Meet SGTC and Thompson Tractor admission standards
• Qualifying ACT, SAT, COMPASS, or ACCUPLACER scores

Program Focus

Participants learn about:

• Heavy equipment engines
• Marine propulsion systems
• Power generator repair

• Paid, rotating 8-week internships
• 8-week classroom and lab sessions at SGTCC
• Caterpillar-specific technical training
• Tools, toolbox, uniforms

After Graduation

Graduates begin their careers with Thompson Tractor, with potential growth opportunities including shop or field technician roles and leadership positions.

You are responsible for:

• Room and board
• Deposits
• Personal transportation

During paid internships, participants should earn enough to cover these expenses.
