About the role

The Infrared Training Center, a global leader in infrared thermography training and certification, is seeking an experienced instructor to deliver advanced certification programs focused on industrial maintenance applications.

This role is essential to supporting maintenance and reliability professionals in detecting, diagnosing, and preventing failures across electrical, mechanical, and process systems using thermography and related technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver thermography certification and application training in alignment with established course materials, governing standards (e.g., ASNT, ISO), and internal quality expectations.
  • Teach approximately 33–35 instructor-led courses annually across classroom, onsite, and virtual environments.
  • Lead engaging lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and practical exercises for adult technical learners.
  • Maintain a high standard of classroom management, promoting professionalism, safety, and active participation.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to students regarding certification pathways, skill development, and real-world application of thermography principles.
  • Evaluate student comprehension through quizzes, practical assessments, and certification exams, providing timely and constructive feedback to support learning and progression.
  • Support exam administration processes, including secure handling of materials and adherence to established testing protocols.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied science, or a related technical field; equivalent hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, electrical, or mechanical disciplines will also be considered.
  • Proven hands-on experience performing infrared inspections and condition assessments in industrial, manufacturing, utility, or facility environments.
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety practices and procedures, including safe work boundaries, PPE requirements, and risk mitigation when operating near energized systems.
  • Experience working around energized equipment and within controlled industrial environments, with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance.
  • Strong practical understanding of infrared imaging technology and heat transfer principles as they apply to real-world applications.
  • Familiarity with complementary predictive maintenance (PdM) technologies, such as vibration analysis, ultrasound, and oil analysis, as well as other reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of relevant industry standards and certification frameworks, including but not limited to: ISO 18436-7, ISO 9712, ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ASNT CP-105.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate adult learners in both technical and applied training environments.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively translate complex technical concepts into practical, understandable instruction for students with diverse backgrounds and experience levels.
  • Proven effectiveness delivering instruction across multiple learning environments, including classroom, onsite, and virtual/online platforms.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to develop clear instructional materials, technical documentation, and assessment content.
  • Skilled in adapting instructional methods, pacing, and delivery techniques to accommodate different learning styles and maximize student comprehension and retention.
  • Experience facilitating hands-on learning, guided exercises, and real-world application scenarios.
  • Able to assess student performance, provide constructive feedback, and adjust instruction to improve outcomes.
  • Proficient in the use of training technologies and digital learning tools (e.g., virtual platforms, LMS/SCORM systems, presentation software).

Qualifications

  • Current Level III certification in infrared thermography.
  • Certification and/or practical experience in complementary condition monitoring technologies, such as vibration analysis, ultrasound, oil analysis, or motor diagnostics.
  • Experience with drone-based thermography and sUAS (small Unmanned Aircraft Systems) applications, including data collection, mission planning, and regulatory awareness (e.g., FAA Part 107).
  • Familiarity with integrated reliability programs, leveraging multiple predictive maintenance technologies to support condition-based monitoring strategies.
  • Fluency in a second language, enhancing the ability to support diverse, global customer and student populations is a plus.
