About the role
Selected candidates for a Level One Thermal Spray Operator position will prepare parts for thermal spraying, perform dimensional checks, and monitor parameters. Operators must read and follow written instructions from job-specific work orders and customer process specifications to complete tasks according to defined requirements. Candidates should be self-disciplined, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to adapt in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining strong accountability, communication, and compliance with company policies.
Responsibilities
- Set up various types of tooling, fixtures, and parts
- Perform in-process dimensional checks using various instrumentation
- Monitor machine parameters
- Prepare parts for thermal spraying
- Effectively communicate with team members and leadership
- Complete all required paperwork accurately
- Adhere to the company’s commitment to quality and safety
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance according to shift-times or pre-arranged work schedules
- Follow all policies, procedures, and work instructions
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required (e.g., goggles, safety glasses, aprons, boots, gloves, hearing protection)
- Perform duties related to the collection and/or storage of hazardous waste, including:
- Proper disposal of used PPE into work center containers
- Transfer of work center containers to the correct hazardous waste storage location
- Proper work practices and labeling for waste collection and waste containers
- Familiarity with facility emergency procedures and the Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Able to read micrometers, Vernier calipers, and thickness testers
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read and interpret work orders
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and willingness to take on new projects
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and changing environment with a strong sense of teamwork
Qualifications
- 1 – 3 years of experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment
- 0 – 3 years of experience in a metal finishing environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
