Thermal Performance Engineer
About the role
As a Thermal Performance Engineer, you will perform thermal modeling of conventional generation power plants using Thermoflow software. You will participate as a mechanical lead in feasibility studies and development support for new power projects including biofuels and hydrogen. You will support power generation project owners and developers for new thermal energy projects. You will prepare and review engineering deliverables such as reports, studies, and calculations. You will evaluate new power and infrastructure projects to support financing. You will procure major power plant equipment, upgrades, maintenance, and service agreements. You will interface with clients to understand requests and confirm successful project execution. You will monitor project schedules and budgets. You will support proposals for new business development opportunities. You will execute performance testing of new & existing thermal plants. You will participate in condition assessments of existing power plants. You will provide technical support for carbon capture studies.
Responsibilities
- Perform thermal modeling of conventional generation power plants using Thermoflow software.
- Participate as mechanical lead in feasibility studies and development support for new power projects including the areas of biofuels and hydrogen.
- Support power generation project owners and developers for new thermal energy projects.
- Prepare and review other engineering deliverables such as reports, studies, and calculations.
- Evaluate new power and infrastructure projects to support financing.
- Procure major power plant equipment, upgrades, maintenance, and service agreements.
- Interface with clients to understand requests and confirm successful project execution.
- Maintain project schedules and budgets.
- Support proposals for new business development opportunities.
- Execute performance testing of new & existing thermal plants.
- Participate in condition assessments of existing power plants.
- Provide technical support for carbon capture studies.
Requirements
- 10 or more years of experience in the electric power industry, specifically experience in thermal power generation.
- Experience in owner’s engineering design reviews of electric power projects.
- Experience with performance testing of thermal energy plants.
- Detailed understanding of power station operation and maintenance.
- Excellent technical communication and writing skills.
- Familiarity with design codes and standards.
- Thermal modeling of conventional generation power plants using Thermoflow or similar software (e.g., GateCycle, EBSILON, IPSEpro).
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.

Schedule
This position would require working in a typical office environment. The position may entail prolonged periods of sitting and computer use, and the professional would ideally be able to maintain focus and attention to detail throughout the workday. The position may also require physical tasks during site visits, including crouching, grasping, and standing/walking for extended periods of time.
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
This position is open to Raleigh, NC; Overland Park, KS; and Paramus,NJ office locations.
