About the role

As a CBRE Thermal Energy Center Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and repairing building system operations and the performance of various areas including plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling. This role is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function and focuses on providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems. You must live within a designated radius of the job site to reliably work the schedule/shift and be willing to work on-call (every two weeks).

Responsibilities

  • Strong understanding of Honeywell Niagara BMS, chiller plant operation, power utilities, emergency power systems, organizational skills, leadership skills, and critical infrastructure.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
  • Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Maintain an energy management program to ensure all systems operate in the most efficient manner.
  • Assist with the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life.
  • Perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Follow departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Review inspections of building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by the client.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
  • Coach others and share in-depth knowledge of your job discipline and broad knowledge of several job disciplines within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values, building consensus and convincing others to reach an agreement.
  • Perform general preventive maintenance and corrective repair for commercial HVAC/R, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (M.E.P.), and general facility systems.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of building engineering or job-related experience.
  • Building engineering experience focusing on HVAC/R, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Building Management Systems (BMS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS) experience is a plus.
  • EPA certification required.
  • Additional certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair.
  • Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.

Skills

  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.
  • Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience to apply appropriate judgment and precedents.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Pay

The minimum salary for the Reliability Engineer position is $85,000 and the maximum salary is $95,000 per year. The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
