What To Expect

Focusing on electrical and mechanical testing, you will play a key role in reliability improvement for Tesla Energy's products. This position involves optimizing product design for a best-in-class lifetime customer experience through various stages of the product lifecycle.

What You'll Do

  • Perform reliability testing for charging and residential energy products.

  • Determine component/system level test solutions that optimize product reliability and durability, conducting PFMEA-based risk mitigations, test team resources, and program schedules.

  • Execute independently on Tesla Energy product, subsystems (such as switching converters, enclosures, busbars/conductors, and actuators).

  • Conduct test data analysis and clearly communicate test results, collaborating with design and reliability engineers to resolve issues detected in testing.

  • Procure and develop required test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems to enhance creative component and product level reliability testing.

  • Facilitate test failure root cause analysis to understand the root cause and drive resolution for failures originating in testing.

  • Continuously drive product risk burndown to ensure product design is reliable and durable during reliability tests.

  • Train technicians/interns to operate and troubleshoot test systems to optimize the workload.

  • Comply with safety policies and regulations.

What You'll Bring

  • Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in power electronics hardware design, design validation, hardware testing, mechanical system reliability, and durability testing.

  • Skills: Knowledge of programming in scripting languages for test automation and data analysis/post-processing (Python preferred); experience specifying sensors for test instrumentation and utilizing data acquisition systems; experience working safely with high voltage equipment (up to 1kV); experience pro-actively owning and delivering test engineering projects within accelerated validation timelines; excellent written and verbal communication as well as organization and documentation skills.

Pay

  • Associate Test Engineer: $82,440 - $123,660/annual salary

  • Test Engineer: $98,640 - $147,960/annual salary

  • Sr Test Engineer: $117,360 - $176,040/annual salary
