About the role

Blythedale Children's Hospital is a leading pediatric hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care. Located in Westchester County, NY, we are the only free-standing children's specialty hospital in New York State, admitting patients with complex medical conditions from academic medical centers across the region.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients and transfer them on and off equipment.
  • Perform patient programs under supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
  • Assist in changing patients to and from adaptive equipment as scheduled by therapists.
  • Participate in upper extremity exercise classes as directed by therapists.
  • Assist with pool operations, including managing supplies, checking temperature, showering, dressing, and occasionally toileting patients, and disinfecting hydrotherapy equipment.
  • Maintain the department, organize equipment, and manage supplies.
  • Demonstrate competency in the Meditech Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system; ensure timely and appropriate documentation.
  • Participate in hospital training as needed.
  • Clean therapy materials (e.g., toys, mats, feeding equipment).
  • Transport patients/residents to and from designated locations.
  • Maintain departmental inventories and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children preferred.
  • Must be able to speak and write in English proficiently to perform job duties such as communicating with patients, writing documentation, and participating in team meetings.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Able to follow directions from professional staff.
  • Good physical health and ability to perform heavy-duty work.
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Able to lift, pull, carry, bend, crouch, and balance patients from light to heavyweight.
