About the role
Blythedale Children's Hospital is a leading pediatric hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care. Located in Westchester County, NY, we are the only free-standing children's specialty hospital in New York State, admitting patients with complex medical conditions from academic medical centers across the region.
Responsibilities
- Escort patients and transfer them on and off equipment.
- Perform patient programs under supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
- Assist in changing patients to and from adaptive equipment as scheduled by therapists.
- Participate in upper extremity exercise classes as directed by therapists.
- Assist with pool operations, including managing supplies, checking temperature, showering, dressing, and occasionally toileting patients, and disinfecting hydrotherapy equipment.
- Maintain the department, organize equipment, and manage supplies.
- Demonstrate competency in the Meditech Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system; ensure timely and appropriate documentation.
- Participate in hospital training as needed.
- Clean therapy materials (e.g., toys, mats, feeding equipment).
- Transport patients/residents to and from designated locations.
- Maintain departmental inventories and supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Must be able to speak and write in English proficiently to perform job duties such as communicating with patients, writing documentation, and participating in team meetings.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Able to follow directions from professional staff.
- Good physical health and ability to perform heavy-duty work.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong interpersonal skills required.
- Able to lift, pull, carry, bend, crouch, and balance patients from light to heavyweight.
