About the Role

The Therapist within the Will’s Place program is responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in the provision of therapeutic services. The therapist delivers a full range of outpatient services for adolescents and families impacted by behavioral health issues, including addiction, substance use, and mental health. The Therapist demonstrates a welcoming, empathic, and hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. They are trained and/or experienced in working with mental illness and substance use, recognizing the impact of trauma on development and adjustment. The Therapist will be trained in trauma-informed care to provide services in an environment sensitive and responsive to preventing victimization, abuse, or trauma. The Therapist reports to the Clinical Director of Will’s Place and collaborates closely with Center psychiatrists and other therapists. If licensed, they may supervise unlicensed therapists and/or interns.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is required.

• Doctorate is preferred but not required.
• Full licensure is preferred; provisional licensure is accepted.
• Training and experience in a psychiatric hospital setting is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, marital, and family counseling.
• Perform intake interviews, identify presenting problems, and generate preliminary treatment plans for new patients.
• Provide crisis services for clients during regular daytime operations.
• Administer and interpret psychological testing within the scope of credentials.
• Provide consultation and education to community groups and institutions on behavioral health topics, upon approval by the Chief Executive Officer.
• Facilitate continuity of care between all program components of the Center.
• Supervise CPR Community Support Specialists (if assigned), including:
  • Hold regularly scheduled supervisory sessions with supervisees.
  • Participate in the review of treatment plans.
  • Review critical intervention plans and situations, and participate in case reviews of critical incidents.
  • Assist supervisees in effective time management, ensuring acceptable staff-to-client ratios.
  • Serve as back-up to supervisees during unavailability (e.g., sickness, vacation) or when additional expertise is needed.
  • Participate in crisis intervention, including an on-call rotation during after-hours and weekends.
  • Accompany CSS workers to client visits periodically to ensure quality performance.
  • Review written documentation for compliance and discuss QA and clinical issues with the Director as needed.
  • Participate in the multi-disciplinary treatment team during the intake process, documenting the appropriateness of the level of care.
  • Report all critical incidents and staff responses to the Supervisor.
  • Evaluate supervisees according to performance evaluation guidelines and ensure annual credentialing.
  • Facilitate the employee discipline process as per policy and procedure when needed.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Normal office environment with prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting. Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity to operate office equipment such as keyboards, telephones, photocopiers, and calculators. Must be able to work under stressful conditions, irregular hours, and handle interactions with irate individuals. TB test required upon hire.
