About the role

The Sexual Abuse Prevention Treatment Therapist provides therapeutic services to individuals, couples, families, and groups within the scope of their licensure or certification within the Behavioral Health program. This position serves Berrien and Van Buren counties.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels and educates individuals, couples, families, and groups.
  • Serves as a representative of the Agency in the field.
  • Engages clients in treatment.
  • Refers clients to community resources.
  • Maintains client records.
  • Participates in mental health and substance use disorders development activities.
  • Coordinates client services.
  • Addresses issues with a diverse client population.
  • Abides by the NASW code of ethics.
  • Makes appropriate assessments and recommendations.
  • Provides counseling, psycho-educational services, screenings, and/or psychotherapy and diagnostic assessments per licensure capacity.
  • Drives for Agency business.
  • Works irregular work hours.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling from an accredited college or university is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of prior work experience in therapy or related experience is strongly preferred.
  • This position requires State of Michigan certifications or licensure as specified per program.
  • Certification as a Sex Offender Treatment Specialist with the Forensic Training Institute is preferred.
  • A Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certificate of MCBAP CAADC is required if providing Substance Use Disorder Services.
  • A Bi-lingual; Spanish-Speaking individual is preferred.
