About the role
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for direct provision of therapy, counseling and educational services within the scope of their licensure or certification within the Behavioral Health program. This position provides therapeutic services to individuals, couples, families, and groups and represents the Agency in the field.
Responsibilities
- Provides counseling, psycho-educational services, screenings and/or psychotherapy and diagnostic assessments per licensure capacity.
- Counsels clients in treatment.
- Refers clients to community resources.
- Maintains client records.
- Participates in mental health and substance use Disorders development activities.
- Drives for Agency business.
- Engages clients in treatment.
- Communicates effectively with clients.
- Makes appropriate assessments and recommendations.
- Addresses issues with a diverse client population.
- Absides by NASW code of Ethics.
- Works irregular work hours.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of three years experience in therapy or related experience is strongly preferred.
- State of Michigan certifications or licensure as specified per program.
- Certification as a Sex Offender Treatment Specialist with the Forensic Training Institute is preferred.
- Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals and Certified Advance Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certificate of MCBAP CAADC Development Plan required if providing Substance Use Disorder Services.
- Bilingual; Spanish-Speaking individual is preferred.
