Therapist, School Based

Family & Children’s Services Therapists work to heal hurting and abused children, strengthen families, and provide hope and a path to recovery for those battling mental illness and addiction.

About the role

Children’s mental health therapists work with children between the ages of 4-18 at a school site, providing evidence-based treatment to children and their families who may have significant behavioral and emotional issues and may be living in high-stress environments. The School-based therapist will collaborate monthly with teachers and conduct intakes, develop treatment plans and plan updates, individual family, and group therapy. Therapists may also be assigned to provide services to children and/or adults in the office-based program for family strengthening on occasion.

Our school-based therapists are primarily embedded in one school, becoming their workplace with full access to their client's education team. Some therapists may prefer to serve multiple schools in one area. School therapists often have flexibility in their schedule to create a daily/weekly routine that works best for them. Schedules follow school calendars for virtual and no-school days. Annual salary is structured school-style: 10 months of work is paid out over a 12-month period, ensuring no gap in income or planning.

Requirements

• Master's degree in social work, Counseling Psychology, or its equivalent from an accredited school.
• Knowledge and experience in individual, group, and family therapy.
• Knowledge and experience in conducting mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
• Must demonstrate a clinical family systems orientation and ability to work with diverse populations with a multiplicity of problems.
• Must be licensed or under supervision for licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the State of Oklahoma.
• Must possess a valid Driver License, satisfactory driving record, and use a personal automobile to travel to locations other than the primary office.

Pay

• $82,000 annually for Licensed Therapists, plus an $8,000 first-year bonus.
• $72,000 annually for Therapists under supervision, plus a $5,000 first-year bonus.

You will be working in an innovative and dynamic environment using the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model of care. This model is characterized by an innovative, team-based approach and whole-person care for adults and children with a range of complex mental health and substance use challenges.

• Utilizing multi-disciplinary teams, staff work collaboratively to provide a coordinated effort to enhance client recovery.
• Robust CCBHC services often result in better client outcomes and quality of care due to:
  • Increased access to care and crisis services.
  • Expanded traditional community mental health and substance use services.
  • Added care coordination and physical health screening for mental health clients.
  • Greater access to social services for clients’ economic and social needs.
  • Increased specialized services for veterans, those most in need, and those impacted by the opioid crisis.
