Therapist - Resident Shows

About the role

We are looking for a Therapist to provide optimal rehabilitation services to Cirque du Soleil high-performance artists. The ideal candidate will have a team-player mindset, the ability to handle contingencies under pressure, adapt quickly to unexpected situations, and work with a variable schedule. Effective and timely communication skills are essential to ensure the health and safety of all artist needs.

Responsibilities

• Clinical:
  • Ensure all relevant medical care, prevention, rehabilitation, and health care administration is delivered to the highest standard of care and confidentiality, tailored to the functional demands of our artists and environment.
  • Deliver emergency response care in a safe and professional manner.
  • Achieve and maintain a Cirque du Soleil-approved First Aid and Trauma Management Certificate to work as a first responder and incident lead for training and in-show cover.
  • Foster close functional relationships with Coaches and other Artistic team members to implement injury-reduction programs aimed at achieving optimal performance.
  • Make recommendations for psychological and nutritional referrals when appropriate.
  • Ensure cost-effective and timely referrals to appropriate medical providers for any relevant illness or injury.
  • Collaborate with the Coaching Team to create feedback and problem-solving moments regarding strength and conditioning, reintegration planning, and performance support.
  • Document and communicate all medical information, interactions, and interventions per medico-legal and Cirque du Soleil requirements (e.g., C-fit, legal/insurance documents) while maintaining artist-therapist confidentiality.
  • Accompany artists to medical appointments when indicated.
  • Actively participate in medical consultations where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the artistic team to ensure clear communication regarding Performance Medicine (PMED) recommendations for artist functional restrictions.
  • Maintain a direct link with the show’s representative regarding insurance and workers' compensation needs, ensuring timely communication of all necessary information, forms, and reports.
  • Implement appropriate Injury Risk Reduction strategies.
• Operational:
  • Perform all relevant tasks inherent to the PMED Therapist role in a professional, ethical manner and at the highest standard of care, aligned with your professional licensure or Cirque du Soleil standards (whichever is higher).
  • Communicate with the Artistic Team regarding injury timelines to determine the necessity for temporary replacements and provide recommendations for external care when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Team Leads to identify show-specific injury trends for potential analysis and solutions.
• General:
  • Adhere to the direction of, and maintain timely communication with, the Team Lead and Senior Advisor.
  • Create and foster interdependent relationships with members of the artistic and coaching teams while contributing professionally to functional decision-making processes (Human Performance Risk Management).
  • Foster a positive, stimulating, and ethical working environment for the PMED Department.
  • Convey all pertinent medical information to the Team Lead and Senior Advisor and actively participate in periodic meetings and reporting.
  • Comply with all Cirque du Soleil Performance Medicine governance standards, Standards of Professional Practice (SoPP), and audit requirements.
  • Actively participate in continuing professional development opportunities to remain an expert in therapy.

Requirements

• University degree in Athletic Training or Physical Therapy, along with an appropriately maintained and recognized professional registration in the State of Nevada.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant clinical musculoskeletal experience.
• Ability to achieve and maintain a current valid First Aid and Trauma Management certificate issued by a Cirque du Soleil-recognized body.
• Fluency in English.
• Experience working with performing artists, performance athletes, and coaches in a professional environment is an asset.
• Able to work in a culturally diverse environment.
• Able to quickly adapt to unexpected situations and work flexibly with a variable schedule while under pressure.
• Able to work at height or in confined spaces, including as Lead of the Emergency Response Team.
• If hired at "O," must pass a test.
• Verification of the right to work in the United States for Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, as demonstrated by completion of the Form I-9 upon hire and submission of acceptable documentation verifying identity and work authorization.
