Therapist - Refugee and Immigrant Clinic (63013)

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of refugees and immigrants in our community. Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated therapist to join our Refugee and Immigrant Clinic (RIC). In this role, you will provide individual, couples, family, and child therapy services to culturally diverse children, youth, and adults while collaborating closely with Health Navigators who offer cultural brokerage and case management support. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help deliver holistic, client-centered care that promotes healing, resilience, and successful community integration.

This position follows a hybrid model blending remote work, office-based services, and community outreach. Therapists are expected to work in the office Mondays and Wednesdays based on client and community needs. The remainder of the week may be worked remotely when scheduling allows. Flexibility is essential, as work locations and schedules may be adjusted to best support client care and community partnerships.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• Hybrid model: office-based (Mondays and Wednesdays) and remote work as scheduling allows

Pay

Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) and prorated for fewer hours. Pay varies by licensure and experience:

• Unlicensed Therapist: $58,489.60 - $80,017.60 per year
• Licensed Therapist: $66,512.16 - $91,016.64 per year
• Unlicensed Psychologist: $70,010 - $83,473.46 per year
• Licensed Psychologist: $99,493.68 - $118,627.08 per year

Bilingual Language Differential Pay: Employees who pass a language assessment for Spanish, Dari, Amharic, Swahili, French, or Arabic receive an additional $3,000 per year, paid bi-weekly and prorated based on hire date and FTE.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate recovery and optimal quality of life for clients with behavioral health concerns by providing clinical services, case management, and education.
• Collaborate with clients to create and carry out consistent treatment plans, from intake and assessment to closure.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments, individual, family, and/or group therapy with assigned clients.
• Develop and monitor treatment plans; update at required intervals.
• Consult with internal and external professionals and collaterals to ensure access to needed services and proactive coordination of care.
• Provide clinical case-management services and crisis intervention as needed.
• Deliver comprehensive clinical services designed to decrease symptoms and improve quality of life.
• Assist clients in evaluating strengths and symptoms, and set their own goals.
• Guide and instruct clients in coping skills.
• Offer consultation to community partners and providers.
• Ensure billing information is up-to-date for assigned clients and seek insurance authorization as required.
• Write reports and other correspondence with appropriate releases.
• Complete credentialing activities to ensure timely and ongoing compliance with third-party payers.
• Monitor and coordinate care for assigned clients in partnership with the care team.

Requirements

Unlicensed Therapist or Psychologist:

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in professional counseling from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), or CSWE (Council on Social Work Education).
• Must obtain a mental health Candidate Permit (e.g., LPCC, PSYC, MFTC, SWC/LSW) within 30 days of hire and actively pursue an independent clinical license (LPC, LP, LMFT, or LCSW).
• AMHR provides quality supervision for clinical hours towards licensure at no cost.

Licensed Therapist or Psychologist:

• At least two years of clinical experience providing care, including conducting individual, family, and/or group therapy.
• Professional licensure: LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or Licensed Psychologist (PhD, PSYD) – or equivalent out-of-state licensure with intent to transfer.
• Must obtain Colorado licensure through DORA within 30 days of hire if currently licensed out-of-state.

All Candidates:

• Knowledge of theories and evidence-based practices related to clinical treatment.
• Ability to learn and utilize an electronic health record proficiently.
• Solid understanding of mental illness and treatment modalities within a multidisciplinary approach.
• Knowledge of DSM-V.
• Ability to understand and effectively respond to all client presentations and crisis situations.
• Ability to document interactions with clients, agencies, and mental health professionals.
• Annual influenza vaccination and negative TB test required before the first day of work (medical and religious exemptions available).
