What does the PRN Therapist do?
- Provides direct care to clients utilizing the core competencies of addiction counseling and/or mental health counseling.
- Serves as a resource person for other professionals in his/her specific area of expertise.
- Co-signs all notes written by students, interns, and unlicensed professionals under his/her supervision.
- Affords assistance with any family-related issues, conflicts, evaluations, and other follow-up as needed.
- Assists in preparing and facilitating weekly groups/activities with residents.
- Prepares and writes notes or other documents related to treatment and recovery (e.g., assessment, progress notes, treatment plans, discharge, etc.) within 48 hours of intervention/contact.
- Performs other duties and special projects as required.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work or counseling from an accredited university or equivalent education in the treatment of addictive disorders.
- Maintains a current and unrestricted license with his/her respective professional board or licensing authority in the state of Louisiana.
Physical Demands
- This job requires employees to have a full range of physical capabilities, including the ability to handle and lift patients, demonstrate manual and finger dexterity, and maintain good eye-hand coordination.
- Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry items up to 40 lbs.
- Corrected vision and hearing within the normal range are also required.
