About the role

Project 180 provides practical and clinical behavioral health, re-entry, and diversion solutions that empower justice-involved Angelenos to achieve lasting personal transformation and reclaim their lives. As a leader in forensic treatment, Project 180 offers high-quality specialized programs serving thousands of justice-involved individuals across criminal justice intercepts, including pre‑arrest interventions, court‑based diversions, jail in‑reach, and intensive post‑release services, in partnership with LA County DMH, DHS, and JCOD. Annually serving over 1,500 individuals, the organization is guided by core values of Humanity, Integrity, Adaptability, Empowerment, Equity, and Interdependence. The Project Based Housing program, funded by DHS Office of Diversion and Reentry (ODR), delivers intensive wraparound services to high‑need/high‑barrier behavioral health clients in the LA County jail system, providing permanent supportive housing through a recovery‑oriented, harm‑reduction framework.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive, wraparound, on‑site and field‑based clinical services including psychotherapy, rehabilitation, clinical case management, and crisis intervention.
  • Actively engage clients through strong rapport, consistent contact, and motivational interviewing; meet clients “where they are at.”
  • Complete initial assessments, formulate diagnoses, and engage clients in treatment planning targeting symptom reduction and recovery‑oriented cornerstones (hope, empowerment, self‑responsibility, meaningful roles).
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy, rehabilitation, clinical case management, and crisis intervention services.
  • Engage and collaborate with collaterals (family members, probation, court) as appropriate.
  • Provide mental health recovery education to clients and engage in client advocacy.
  • Maintain comprehensive case notes in the electronic health record per program guidelines.
  • Maintain and submit billing records per program guidelines.
  • Participate in program data collection per program guidelines.
  • Fulfill baseline Project 180 staff expectations, including regular attendance; holiday or weekend work may be required.
  • Maintain and uphold the agency’s mission, values, policies, procedures, and principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintain active license and/or registrations as applicable (e.g., BBS, CCAPP).
  • Supervisory responsibilities: none.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work or mental health field from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid license or registration with the appropriate licensing body (e.g., BBS).
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
  • Valid California driver’s license, proof of insurance, and own vehicle required; ability to transport clients in personal vehicle as needed.
  • Must not be on any type of legal supervision (probation or parole).
  • Verification of employment eligibility and background check required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Environmental conditions: job duties performed both in office and field settings.
  • Physical requirements: expected to move about the worksite (walking, standing, climbing stairs, or using a mobility device); drive; carry up to 20 lbs; listen; speak to complete job requirements.
