About the Role

As an Outpatient Primary Therapist at Recovery Centers of America (RCA), you'll be part of our mission to save one million lives from the disease of addiction. RCA operates over 11 facilities offering evidence-based inpatient, outpatient, and medication-assisted treatment 24/7. We tailor treatment for each patient, including specialized programs for trauma, multiple recurrences, older adults, and first responders. You'll facilitate family therapy sessions, as well as individual and group sessions, helping patients achieve and maintain recovery through evidence-based, person-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate clients' mental and physical health, addiction, or problem behavior and assess their readiness for treatment.
• Help clients develop treatment goals and plans, and review/recommend treatment options with clients and their families.
• Assist clients in developing skills and behaviors necessary for recovery and identify behaviors or situations that interfere with their progress.
• Teach families about addiction or behavior disorders and help them develop coping strategies.
• Refer clients to resources such as job placement services and support groups.
• Conduct outreach programs to help people identify signs of addiction and steps to avoid destructive behavior.
• Oversee census within assigned area, ensuring adequate leads and meeting site census/budgetary requirements.
• Provide direct oversight and direction where appropriate.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling required; licensure as a MHC, LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, or Ph.D. in Psychology preferred.
• One to three years of experience in behavioral healthcare or substance abuse settings serving culturally diverse populations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects under pressure.
• Proficiency in computer software applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of diverse cultures and gender-specific issues, with the ability to incorporate these needs into treatment.
• Knowledge of group, individual, and family counseling.
• Maintains confidentiality and exhibits excellent customer relation skills.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level is usually moderate.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
