About the role

The Therapist I provides direct clinical services to patients, including group therapy, individual therapy, family sessions, treatment planning, and crisis intervention. This role works closely with psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, and other clinical staff to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care. This role is ideal for early-career clinicians who are passionate about mental health treatment and eager to grow within a collaborative hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Apply psychotherapeutic techniques and interventions in the delivery of services to individuals and families for the purpose of treating diagnosed emotional and behavioral disorders.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop initial discharge plans.
  • Conduct individual, group, or family sessions as appropriate for the treatment plan of the patient.
  • Provide initial treatment planning for patients based on assessment and coordinate any additional services needed, revising as necessary.
  • Maintain documentation of therapy services provided to each patient according to facility and professional standards.
  • Maintain a caseload as assigned.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with other staff to facilitate services for the patient, as appropriate to their treatment plan.
  • Perform case management, discharge, or aftercare planning as needed.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times.
  • When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints.
  • Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
  • Eligibility for licensure (LMSW, LCSWA, LPCA, LMFTA, etc.).
  • One or more years’ experience working with a comparable patient population.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and clinical assessment skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced inpatient environment.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in behavioral health, inpatient psychiatry, or crisis services.
  • Familiarity with CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, or other evidence-based practices.

Pay

$42,900 - $68,650

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
