About the role
The Therapist at Primo Center provides therapeutic interventions and administrative support to families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Primo Center is a leading provider of services to homeless families in Chicago, offering comprehensive support including shelter, healthcare, and social services.
Responsibilities
- Provide Therapeutic Interventions
- Deliver therapeutic counseling and crisis intervention
- Conduct assessments and develop service/treatment plans
- Maintain accurate records in electronic systems
- Facilitate emotional wellness groups for adults and children
- Support clients in accessing housing, employment, education, and benefits
- Collaborate with community partners and service providers
- Monitor communal living environments and enforce house rules
- Absorb and de-escalate crises, stabilize individuals
- Administration and Client Services Coordination
- Maintain audit-ready case files and complete paperwork
- Maintain client engagement through various means
- Ensure respectful and professional support
- Adhere to health and safety codes
- Attend meetings and training
- Assist residents with daily living skills and conduct training
- Support the team in stabilizing individuals
Qualifications
- Strong commitment to Primo Center's mission and values
- LCSW, LCPC, or Clinical Therapist in Social Work, Human Services, or related field with 10+ years of direct case management experience
- 5+ years working with homeless families or survivors of trauma
- Valid driver’s license and flexible availability
- Deep knowledge of therapeutic assessments, mainstream benefits, and child welfare systems
- Familiarity with Harm Reduction and Trauma-Informed Care practices
- Effective communication skills and proficiency in data entry/reporting
- Cultural competence and ability to work with diverse populations
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently
- Established relationships with community resources and service providers
