About the role
The Therapeutic Recreator I, CI assesses, plans, implements, and performs therapeutic recreation in mental health or developmental disability settings. This position does not involve supervising others.
Responsibilities
- Assess clients' needs and abilities
- Plan and implement recreational activities
- Evaluate the effectiveness of recreation therapy
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in therapeutic recreation or recreation with a major in therapeutic recreation from an accredited college or university
- Current certification as a Therapeutic Recreator from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification
- Experience as a professional therapeutic recreator, supervised by a licensed occupational therapist, physical therapist, or certified activity therapist
- Experience leading group and individual therapeutic recreation activities
Desired or Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with psychiatric patients/residents
- Experience leading group and individual therapeutic recreation activities
